Library Web Site main search contains:

  • The ALL IN search of all the library resources except for SciFinder Scholar and Naxos.
  • The additional tabs allow you to search for articles, books, and reserves along with searching the Library web site content.

Use the ALL IN option to find books available at Emmanuel and other Fenway Libraries Online (FLO) libraries along with articles available through our databases.

This option is useful when starting your research without limiting to books or articles.

The searching will be similar to the article searching that we will next go over.

Articles, found using the Library's subscription databases, are more likely to focus on a narrower topic and are often published more quickly than books.

Note: Off campus, enter your Emmanuel username and password to search the Library's databases.

  • Articles that are full text will have a PDF Full Text hyperlink.

  • To see if full text is available in one of the Library's other databases, click on the Full Text Finder option.

  • Email, print, or save options are available on the right in the article detailed record.

Use the Books tab to find books available at Emmanuel and the other Fenway Libraries Online (FLO) libraries. The Library collection contains both print and e-books.

To search the Online Catalog for a topic:

  • Select All Fields from options.
  • Enter the topic in the text box.

Print books will have a Call Number. Books with similar content have similar numbers and are shelved near to each other.

5 of 6To access the e-books, click on the book title and, then, on the Emmanuel link at the bottom of the record. Note: Off campus, enter your Emmanuel username and password to view the e-books.

To locate useful information in a book, use:

  • The Table of Contents at the front of the book.
  • The Index in the back of the book, which provides an alphabetical list of topics found in the book.

Also, examine the list of references at the end of the book or each chapter for potential sources.
